HOW TO INSTALL AN OVERGRIP PROPERLY
A bad wrap ruins a good grip. Do it like this:
- Prep. Remove the old overgrip. Wipe the handle if it's dusty or sweaty.
- Anchor. Start at the base of the handle. Most overgrips have a tapered adhesive end — angle it and fix it at the bottom.
- Tension. Wrap upward with light, constant tension — enough to hug the handle, not enough to thin the material.
- Overlap. Keep a consistent overlap of roughly 2 mm each turn. Consistency is what prevents bubbles and ridges.
- Finish. Cut or angle the end, then lock it with finishing tape. Victory packs include it.
Total time after a few tries: under two minutes.
CÓMO INSTALAR UN OVERGRIP BIEN
Una mala aplicación arruina un buen grip. Hazlo así:
- Prepara.
HOW OFTEN SHOULD YOU CHANGE YOUR OVERGRIP?
There is no universal number — it depends on how much you play and how much you sweat. Signals that it's time:
- The surface looks shiny or compressed where you hold it.
- It feels slick when your hand sweats — you're gripping harder just to hold on.
- Edges are fraying or the wrap is shifting.
Rule of thumb: frequent players change grips every few sessions, not every few months. A fresh grip is one of the cheapest performance upgrades in the sport — it's why Victory grips come in 3-packs and 60-unit buckets.
PADEL VS TENNIS OVERGRIPS: IS THERE A DIFFERENCE?
Short answer: mostly no. Overgrips for padel, tennis and pickleball are made from the same materials in nearly identical dimensions — a thin PU strip long enough to wrap the handle.
What actually differs is how you use them: padel handles are shorter, so you may trim the excess; tennis players sometimes build thicker handles with multiple wraps; pickleball sits in between.
That's why Victory overgrips are built as one standard that fits all three. Choose by feel — tackiness and absorption — not by label.
